Shipping Container Costs & Delivered Pricing
Understand what affects shipping container prices, custom build costs, freight and site preparation before comparing quotes.
Compare the same starting container
A new / one-trip container and a used wind-and-watertight unit are different starting points. Compare length, exterior height, actual condition, door configuration and required repairs. A low shell price does not tell you what a finished office or workshop will cost.
Separate fabrication from fit-out
Personnel doors and roll-up openings require a defined location, dimensions, framing, hardware and finish. Insulation, electrical distribution, HVAC, interior walls, plumbing and cabinetry add different scopes. Compare an itemized written specification rather than a single square-foot allowance.
Freight follows the actual site
Delivery pricing depends on the pickup and destination, equipment, route, unloading method and access. Supply the street address or ZIP, entrance photos, overhead clearance, turns, slopes and ground conditions. An approximate city location is a starting point, not a confirmed delivered price.
Include the work outside the container
A finished container may still need foundations or supports, anchoring, steps or ramps, utility connections and locally required approvals. Identify who handles each item so two quotes can be compared on the same basis.
Ask about quantities and repeat builds
For multiple units, list the quantity of each size and layout. Repeated specifications can simplify review, but freight, availability, batch scheduling and site placement still need confirmation. No volume discount or stock lead time is implied.
