CONTAINER SIZE GUIDE
Choose your footprint.
Compare typical dimensions before selecting the container that will support your project.
| Container | Typical exterior dimensions | Common starting point |
|---|---|---|
| 10′ standard | 10′ × 8′ × 8′ 6″ | Compact storage |
| 20′ standard | 20′ × 8′ × 8′ 6″ | Storage & workshop planning |
| 40′ standard | 40′ × 8′ × 8′ 6″ | Larger storage & equipment |
| 40′ high cube | 40′ × 8′ × 9′ 6″ | Build-outs & added headroom |
| 53′ container | 53′ nominal length; width & height confirmed by unit | Larger inventory & specialty layouts |
Nominal exterior dimensions for typical units. Internal clearances are smaller and vary by manufacturer, condition, and modifications. Confirm the exact unit before designing foundations, interiors, or equipment layouts.
Standard vs. high cube
A typical standard unit is 8′ 6″ tall outside. A typical high cube is 9′ 6″ tall outside. That extra foot can help with insulation, ceilings, and equipment clearances.
Think beyond floor area
Plan door openings, turning space, shelving, insulation thickness, ceiling finishes, and equipment access. Usable space is always more specific than exterior measurements.
